Eleri Lopp: Nature Guide in Estonia

Eleri Lopp is one of Estonia's most accomplished nature guides and wildlife photographers, having spent decades exploring Estonian forests, bogs and river banks. Her passion for nature began in childhood in Harjumaa, where she grew up at the edge of the forest and learned to identify every tree species, animal track and birdsong long before starting school.
Who is Eleri Lopp?
Eleri has completed courses in nature education and wildlife photography, and works as an active nature guide throughout Harjumaa and the surrounding region. For her, nature is not merely a backdrop — it is a living language and a story. Her goal is to share that story with everyone who wants to truly experience Estonian nature, not simply observe it.
Alongside her guiding work, Eleri is a professional wildlife photographer. Her images have appeared in magazines, books and exhibitions. She believes the camera is a tool that brings people closer to nature — even when the only camera available is a mobile phone.
What tours does Eleri offer?
Eleri organises a variety of nature tours suitable for both beginners and experienced outdoor enthusiasts. All tours are private and can be tailored to the group's wishes.
- Canoe trips on the Pirita River — a peaceful journey along a beautiful river, discovering islands and spotting beavers and birdlife
- SUP tours on Paunküla Reservoir — stand-up paddleboarding on clear water with stunning views of the surrounding forest
- Wildlife observation and tracking — early morning and evening excursions into animal territories to spot foxes, roe deer and occasionally elk
- Nature photography course — hands-on training with camera or smartphone, photographing in the actual outdoors
- Bog bathing — a unique Estonian wellness experience, followed by a traditional sauna and warm drink
- Harjumaa hiking trails — guided walks through Harjumaa forests and meadows
Where does Eleri operate?
Most of Eleri's tours take place in Harjumaa, which offers an incredibly diverse natural environment just 40 minutes from Tallinn. Key areas include the Pirita River and its surroundings, Paunküla Reservoir and the adjacent forests, the Kõrvemaa hiking centre area and the Aegviidu region.
Eleri's approach — what makes her different?
Eleri's tours are not simply walks in the woods. Each outing is a story — a story of how Estonian nature works, how animals live, how plants change through the seasons. She tells stories that bring nature to life for people who may not have spent much time outdoors before.
"My goal is for every participant to return home looking at their surroundings with fresh eyes. Estonian nature is extraordinary — we just need to know what to look for."
Eleri keeps her groups small — a maximum of 8–10 people — ensuring a personal approach and a high-quality experience for every participant.
How to book?
Eleri leads nature tours through Looduskeskus and all tours can be booked directly with her. Tours are available year-round, though some activities (such as SUP and canoeing) are seasonal.
