On a walk with Eleri, look for animal tracks, listen for bird calls and learn to read forest, river and bog habitats. Her work as a guide and wildlife photographer is closely connected to nature conservation.

Notice more on your next forest walk

If you've ever walked through a forest and felt like you were 'missing the point', you're not alone. Most wildlife doesn't announce itself; it leaves clues. Eleri's guiding approach leans into that reality: reading tracks, recognising bird calls, and understanding habitats—so a hike becomes a story you can actually follow, not just a nice walk with photos.

Eleri introduces you to Estonia’s birdlife and wildlife habitats, with time to notice what is around you and discuss why it needs protection.

Background and viewpoint

Eleri combines nature guiding with wildlife photography. Walk with her to look for birds and signs of large mammals, and learn how their habitats shape what you may see.

That combination (guide + photographer) matters in practice: photography encourages patience and ethics—waiting for the right moment, keeping distance, choosing behaviour over disturbance. It's also a helpful mindset for birdwatching and wildlife tours: success isn't 'getting close', it's understanding what you're observing.

Guiding and location

Naturestonia is based near Tallinn, with experiences around the Pirita River and Paunküla reservoir. The aim is to help you enjoy and understand these landscapes while disturbing wildlife as little as possible.

Explore the landscapes around the Pirita River and Paunküla reservoir. Early morning and sunset can be good times to watch and listen for birds and other wildlife.

What the experiences focus on

On these outings, you can learn to recognise tracks, identify bird calls and spot signs of animal activity. Your guide helps you connect those clues to the habitat around you.

Conservation and public education

Away from guiding, Eleri works to protect wildlife through conservation organisations, court cases and public education.

Eleri leads MTÜ Eesti Suurkiskjad (Estonian Large Carnivores), which has challenged hunting decisions in court. In 2025, ERR reported that the association’s appeal delayed the start of bear hunting; it had also previously delayed the start of wolf hunting.

In addition to advocacy, she has taken part in public education that directly connects wildlife ecology with protected-area frameworks. The Estonian Fund for Nature documents a 'winter road' nature hike on 6 February 2022 focused on large carnivores and Natura 2000, where Eleri is named as the hike leader and 'large carnivore expert', sharing experiences and discussing habitat needs and coexistence.

Ask Eleri about her current conservation work when you plan your visit or join a tour.

Choosing a tour with Eleri

Tell Eleri about your interests, walking ability and photography experience before booking. She can help you choose an outing that suits your group.
